VASERIE RINALDI S.r.l.

INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING OF ITALIAN POTTERY AND ARTISTIC CERAMICS

SINCE 1954

Made in Italy

Company

Vaserie Rinaldi produces terracotta pots and artistic ceramics since 1954 in Giffoni Valle Piana (Salerno), where in the past the antique tradition of the ceramics of Vietri sul Mare developed and is now famous all over the world.

Our factory produces a large range of pots, jars, fountains, and other artisan terracotta and ceramics pieces, hand painted, in different shapes and sizes. Our products create harmony and beauty in the places of everyday life such as houses, gardens, terraces, hotel and public areas.

Vaserie Rinaldi artistic terracotta vases are the result of years of experience and passion; their quality is unquestioned thanks to refined finishing and the force of their design.

Research and tradition

Our factory has been able to combine the old working methods with the technological innovations through a painstaking work of research.

The quality of our vases lays first of all in the raw materials we use: the clay comes from Tuscany hills and their processing inside our factory is highly sophisticated; before pressing, clay is processed and than micro-filtered by machines called filter-presses.

This process removes sands and stones, to obtain vases with smooth and velvety surface.

Methods of production

We have two methods of production: semi-industrial and hand-made.

In the semi-industrial production, the products are made by machine in cast-iron or polypropylene moulds. After desiccation, pots are fired at a very high temperature to guarantee good resistance to freezing.

They are fired in kiln made no longer of firebricks, but of ceramic fiber.

So we produce terracotta pots in red or pinkish colors which, with their hue, remind of Mediterranean spring.

In the hand-made production, master craftsmen model the clay by hands on the wheel to realize unique forms. Another method used is plaster casts where clay is pressed by hand to obtain specific shapes such as jars and amphora. All the products are finished by hand, desiccated for a long time and fired at high temperatures to guarantee resistance to bad weather.

Manufacturing of ceramic

Manufacturing of artistic ceramics foresees two firings and the enamels used are unleaded glazing in the respect of environment. Our master decorators paint rigorously by hand every manufactured piece with different and unique decorations. The dominant colors are the yellow reminding of the lemon gardens of Amalfi coast, the emerald green of Tyrrhenian sea , the white and the blue of the sky of southern Italy. On each piece is painted the factory’s name and the Made in Italy mark.

From the nature to the nature

Terracotta is a material which is friendly to man and nature. No other material is as suitable for containing plants, both in the gardens and at home, because its natural porosity lets the earth transpire, avoiding the formation of moulds and preventing the roots from rotting. Moreover, terracotta is twice ecological: Firstly, terracotta manufacturing does not use any dangerous chemical substances and no toxic wastes are released into the environment. Secondly, when the vase long life comes to an end, it returns to be what it was originally – good quality earth.

Ideas for furnishing

The classic jar in the past was used for decantation and storage of olive oil, is nowadays conceived to give gardens a touch of style and character. Thanks to its classical shape and its great capacity, it is ideal for containing flowery plants, but it can also be used to highlight a hallway, perhaps in pairs. Very versatile and easy to match with different styles of furniture are also the industrial vases with theirs simple and elegant shape, suitable for an art nouveau living room as well as for modern interiors. More classical and decorated are the “garlanded pot”, ”Pompei  pot”or “Impeial pot”, that repropose traditional shapes and atmospheres. The tiniest vases are real miniature masterpieces: identical to larger models as to finishing, proportions and color, they are suitable for collections of succulent plants or bonsai showing on shelves and bookcases.
